Alan Edward Kazdin (born January 24, 1945[1]) is the John M. Musser Professor of Psychology, Child Psychiatry, and Institute of Social Policies at Yale University, and the director of the Yale Parenting Center and Child Conduct Clinic. He was the 2008 President of the American Psychological Association.

Dr. Kazdin’s work focuses primarily on child and adolescent disorders, behavior therapy, and clinical methodology, with over 600 articles and over 40 books and chapters published in these areas. He has served as an Associate Editor of the Annual Review of Psychology, a Series Editor of books in Psychology for Yale University Press, an editor of Behavior Therapy, Psychological Assessment, Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, Clinical Psychology: Science and Practice and Current Directions in Psychological Science, and as Editor-in-Chief of the American Psychological Association’s Encyclopedia of Psychology.
Kazdin received his Bachelor’s degree from San Jose State University, and his Ph. D in clinical psychology from Northwestern University. He was on the faculty of Northwestern University, Pennsylvania State University and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine before being appointed to Yale University’s Department of Psychology and Child Study Center in 1989.
